Mace

I’ve never felt more alive than I do with her behind me on my bike. The constant thought she might stab me is never far from my mind. She’s as distrusting as I am, and she’s feisty as hell. It’s fucking hot. I’d like a piece of her.

Joker wasn’t too happy when I sent him on his way. I assured him I only planned to give her a ride home in case the fucker across the way was an actual threat. He promised to stop and have a pleasant chat with the guy and let me know what the fuck he was up to.

Her arms tighten around me as we lean into a turn. Her heartbeat thunders against my back and her tits are so snug to me my cock is raging hard against the inside of my pants. I’m glad this journey is nearly over because I’m going to be aching for a long damn time after this brief encounter.

I pull into her apartment complex, and park in the spot she gestures at and kill the engine. She slips off the back immediately and I glance at her.

“Look, I’m sorry for being a bitch.”

I shake my head. “Never apologize for being real. Too many women think they need to tone themselves down so they don’t come across as too much for the little men in their lives. Don’t be like them.”

She glances away, a smile lighting up her face. “Want to come in for a drink?”

I can’t think of anything I want more. And as my dick twitches, I have to talk myself down. Not every woman means the same thing when she asks a guy in for a drink. She’s obviously going through some shit, and preying on damsels in distress isn’t my style.

“Sure.” I get off my bike as she waits for me on the sidewalk leading up to the building. The thrill in her eyes tells me this little lady knows she’s playing with fire, but no way in hell am I going to let her get burned.

Side by side, we walk into her building and I notice the extra sway to her hips, the lightness of her step. “My life is going to hell,” she blurts.

I keep pace with her and refuse to let anything show on my face as she peeks up at me. “Isn’t that life, though? A series of disasters that lead to more disasters?” I’m thinking about Joanna when I say that, but suddenly, losing her seems more like a blessing. After all, isn’t it better to find out she’s a cheater before I married her? Settled down with her? Have kids with her? I found out before any damage was done—except for my bruised ego.

“Maybe.” She seems surprised by my response as we step into the elevator. “I didn’t see my life going this way.”

“You mean inviting a biker to your place for drinks?” I ask dryly.

She smiles and gives her head a little shake. “Well, not this either, but
